We are a collection of Ballard enthusiasts, some of who were born and raised right here (like me), and others who have more recently discovered Ballard and all it has to offer. Some of the things I love about our neck of the woods is its long history. I love listening to the “old timers” tell their stories. I remember when I was a kid it seemed most people seemed to be from Scandinavia, as my roots are from. I also love all the old “fixer upper” homes in Ballard, probably because that is what I do: purchase and remodel old houses.
Back then, attending the old Ballard High School, Ballard was a working class neighborhood. Nothing trendy about it. But it has really evolved. Some might disagree, but I think the new diverse nature Ballard has taken on gives it greater depth and increases its appeal.
I could go on and on about all that I love about Ballard. I haven’t even mentioned the parks. But that will be for another time.
