Another One Bites the Dust

Olsen’s Scandinavian Foods on Market Street will close after 49 years of business in Ballard. Olsen’s attempted to sell within the family, but to no avail. The destination storefront for hard to find Scandinavian foods and other randoms is in the process of complete liquidation.
Olsen’s Scandinavian Foods is of three recent Market Street retailers who are closing their doors forever, along with Epilogue Books and Best Regards.

Olsen’s were selling Alaskan Salmon hand over fish at the Ballard Seafood fest. Their signs said they were going to be missionaries in Italy and were raising money by selling everything including the fresh fish. Isn’t Italy a Catholic country? Do they really need missionaries there? Who cares, that’d be my choice for retirement scheme–Italy is fabulous! And I didn’t mind getting a whole fish for less than $2 per pound. I ate it, shared it and froze the rest for salmon cakes later. Farvel! Ha det fint! (goodbye and take care)
