Ballard Community Center: Fun for Kids (and Grown-ups)

January 31, 2009 in Ballard by Alyssa

When I first moved back to Seattle last year with my two-year old, it was Ballard Community Center — and the Toddler Play Room — that saved my sanity.  For just $2, children under the age of five can enjoy a room full of toys and books. The Play Room is open during the Ballard Community Center’s normal business hours (which vary according to the season).

They also run Toddler Gym Time on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11:30am to 2:00pm. This is where they open up the gym and fill it with balls, trikes, and cars. There’s even a bouncy house and slide. Your $2 gets you into the gym as well as the play room (and it’s $2 per family per day…so you can come with several kids and have in and out privileges).

Ballard Community Center also offers a pottery studio, preschool program, childcare (before and after school), aerobics and fitness classes, arts and crafts for the whole family, and more. At Easter they have an egg hunt for the kids. Some of the rooms are available for renting, for functions like business meetings, birthday parties, weddings, and more.
